Lexington Singers and Children’s Choir

The Lexington Singers is one of the oldest continuously performing independent community choral groups in America. Based in Lexington, the Singers currently comprises approximately 180 voices. Since its founding in 1959, the group has entertained hundreds of audiences throughout Kentucky, the United States, and the world.
The Lexington Singers will be performing Kentucky Is My Land, the opening chorus from a new family musical, A Penny’s Worth of Character, adapted from Jesse Stuart by James Rodgers, music by Jay Flippin. This new opera is commissioned by the University of Kentucky Greenup County Cooperative Extension.
